Lies v Truth

Lie – It’s your fault you were abused.
Truth – Abuse is NEVER the fault of the abused! It is not your fault that your abuser chose not to control themselves and decided to harm you.

Lie – I should have done more to stop the abuse or prevent it.
Truth – Things can often be replayed in our minds over and over and we try to play the “what if” game. It is very common for abuse victims to “freeze” because they are scared and then blame themselves because they should have fought harder. Please don’t do this! It won’t change anything, except for making your grief more unbearable!
